causing changes in Earth's surface temperature, rainfall and sea level
that are measurable now, new research says, and that will continue for
the next thousand years.

The work "convinced us that current choices regarding CO2 emissions
will have legacies that will irreversibly change the planet," said
senior scientist Susan Solomon at the U.S. National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration's Earth System Research Laboratory.

Die eerste zin: 'Carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere by human
activities is causing changes in Earth's surface temperature, rainfall
and sea level that are measurable now, new research says, and that
will continue for the next thousand years.',  roept echter  al een
heleboel vragen op.

Hoezo, en ' ... that will continue for the next thousand years' ? Waar
halen we dat vandaan dan? Hebben we dan nog wel bronnen genoeg '
...for the next thousand years' ?

Kortom: hoe zullen we nu dat  ' ... new research says', waarderen?

En hoe dan wordt de 'oorzaak' voor de verandering gemeten? Niet !! Dat
is - en dat op zijn best - een conclusie, maar bij lange na niet
bewezen !!

' ...human activities is causing changes in Earth's surface
temperature',  is er ook een waar je alle kanten mee op kunt.
Over welke 'human activities'  hebben we het dan precies?
' ... is causing changes in Earth's surface temperature' ?!! Blijkens?
En, wat precies 'is causing changes' ? De 'Carbon dioxide emitted' ?
Of mss het simpele feit dat we de lagen olie weg halen, en daarmee een
(mogelijke) isolerenwerking ? Is het überhaupt onderzocht, of houden
we vast aan de tunnelvisie (ik roep even in herinnering het stuk dat
je plaatste mbt het verwerven, maar vooral het implementeren van de
nieuwe(re) kennis/inzicht(en))?

So: ' The work "convinced us  .." ' ??? How to convince *them*?
