UN: Extra Climate Change Conference In Germany, April 9-11

BRUSSELS (Dow Jones)--The United Nations will hold an extra round of climate
change talks in Bonn, Germany, between April 9 and 11, the U.N. Framework
Convention on Climate Change said Tuesday.

"The decision to intensify the negotiating schedule underlines the
commitment by governments to move the negotiations forward towards success"
at a year-end conference in Mexico, said UNFCCC Executive Secretary Yvo de
Boer.

The UNFCCC organizes the U.N.-sponsored climate change negotiations. The
outcome of the Copenhagen conference in December disappointed many observers
and policy makers, who are now seeking to instill momentum in the
negotiations again.

Two weeks of official talks were already scheduled for the end of May in
Bonn, and for the end of November in Cancun, Mexico.

Kun je nog wel door op de reeds ingeslagen weg? Is het verantwoord zoveel
geld/middelen (mogelijk) te verspillen? Moet het niet opnieuw bekeken worden
en herijkt? Wie neemt  waarvoor de verantwoordelijkheid, en wat als er
(later blijkt) verkeerde beslissingen zijn genomen?
