Hmm,
Volgens mij figureerde Cramer al ver voor 1991 in de landelijke media. Vaag
staat me nog voor de geest dat ik haar interviewde in 1990 - toen werkte ze
nog bij zoiets als de staatsonderzoekorg waarvan de naam me even niet
tebinnen schiet (in Zeist heb/had je het Vleeslab)... Het was toen een kek
dametje. Ik vond haar via wet. citaties, weet ik nog wel.

Nu Cramer 'blind vaart' op de 'wetenschap', is het wel eens
aardig wat ze daar eerder over in de media heeft gezegd toen ze
nog geen minister was. Dat staat hier,

In haar *eerste* optreden in de media (in The New Scientist op
13 juli 1991 zegt ze,
   Science may thus be a poor ally to environmentalists because
   scientists' knowledge is inevitably limited. Unlike a traditional
   or charismatic authority they do not have the ability to respond
   to every contingency. Such 'shortcomings' may well be common to
   public uses of science. But conservation scientists face these
   problems in a particularly concentrated way. For one thing,
   scientists working in environmental pressure groups often cannot
   commission or carry out the research which they would ideally
   like to see performed. According to Jacqueline Cramer of the
   University of Amsterdam such scientists therefore face 'pragmatic
   uncertainty'. She argues that they are commonly called on to make
   recommendations at short notice, often using readily-available
   research material which may vary in quality. They frequently lack
   the time or resources to conduct research of their own.

Merk overigens op dat in de thans door de mand vallende pseudo-
wetenschap een 'conservationist' geen conservatief  zij maar een
voorstander van milieu*behoud* die meent progressief te zijn.
Grappig, zo'n woordenspel...

We moeten overigens niet al te veel zeuren over dat IPCC rapport -
de bladzijdenunmmering ziet er piekfijn uit.
