In June 2010 the ZERO RACE will start in for a 30'000 km trip in 80 days
around the world across app. 20 countries. The ZERO Race will stop for
press events in app. 150 major cities along the way like Paris, Munich,
Vienna, Moscow, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami,
New York, Montreal and London

Competition criteria
Scientists with expertise in renewable energy and transport issues will
define the competition’s parameters. Apart from who’s ‘first past the
post’, the performance of the different teams will be judged on the
following criteria:
     * Popularity (opinion polls by people/spectators along the way)
     * Reliability (judged on numbers of breakdowns)
     * Affordability, efficiency, overall energy consumption (judged by
car manufacturers)
     * Design and sex-appeal (judged by the public)
     * Power: speed, acceleration and range (judged by a panel of racing
car drivers)
     * Safety (judged by engineers)

For each of the 6 competition criteria there will be a prize-giving
event in a major city on every continent. There will be a winner in each
category and one overall winner.

Eligibility
Competing vehicles in the race must:
     * Vehicles drive at least 240 km of distance at not less than 80 m/h
     * recharging time must not be more than 4 hours
     * Motorbikes drive not less than 120 km with one battery charge,
their batteries may be changed during the race
     * Motorbikes and cars must reach a distance of at least 450 km per
day, with not more than 4 hours of recharging during Lunch time
     * Carry at least one driver and one passenger (for bikes 1 person only)
     * Be propelled by an electric motor
