En wat deed Verhofstad zelf?
Als hij zijn zin had gehad was een aanzienlijk deel van het vermogen van
België getransfereerd naar de Fransen. Daarna had hij op de
onvoorwaardelijke steun van de Fransen kunnen rekenen?
