Tony Blair today announced his intention to resign as leader of
the Labour Party.

However he continues to serve as PM and is fully focused on the
business of Government. He will also continue to be the leader
of the Labour Party until they finalise the election of his
successor. Mr Blair will then offer his resignation as PM on 27
June.
