Ook Nederland krijgt wellicht Veritasnetwerk

*HILVERSUM - Er zijn in Nederland plannen voor de oprichting van een 
netwerk van christenacademici en -studenten op universiteiten, zoals in 
Amerika bij Veritas het geval is. *

In Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Leiden en Utrecht overwegen IFES- en 
Navigatorstudentengroepen Veritas-achtige activiteiten te starten.

In Hilversum had vrijdag een besloten bijeenkomst plaats waar zo’n 
honderd wetenschappers, studenten en leiders uit christelijke kring 
aanwezig waren. Het initiatief hiervoor lag bij de Evangelische Omroep, 
de Evangelische Alliantie en de internationale studentenorganisatie IFES.

Prof. dr. Cees Dekker ging in op de mogelijkheid van een dergelijk 
netwerk in de Nederlandse academische situatie. Verder gaven Dan Cho, 
leider van Veritas in Amerika, en dr. Ard Louis uit Oxford, onder meer 
betrokken bij de Templeton Foundation, hun visie.

Mr. Henk Medema, een van de organisatoren van de bijeenkomst, zegt dat 
studenten nu bezig zijn om het besprokene verder uit te werken. „Ik denk 
dat er in het najaar een vervolgbijeenkomst gehouden wordt, 
waarschijnlijk bij de presentatie van de vertaling van het boek ”Finding 
God beyond Harvard”.
