NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND THE CITY: THE FUTURE OF EUROPE' 
The Hague, 5 - 7 September 2000

On behalf of the Minister for Urban Policy (Roger van Boxtel), the Vice-Mayor of The Hague (Bas Verkerk) and EUROCITIES, I should like to invite you to attend the above-mentioned conference.

Some of the keynote speakers at the conference will be:
Mr Roger van Boxtel, Dutch Minister for Urban Policy and the Integration of Ethnic Minorities 
Mr William Mitchell, Professor of Architecture and Media Arts & Sciences  
Mr Michel Barnier, European Commissioner for Regional Policy
Mr Cerfontaine, President Schiphol Group, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on ICT and the City

The following topics will be discussed at the conference:
* Location conditions for ICT firms
* Employment
* ICT and public services
* New technologies and the quality of life in neighbourhoods and communities
* Matching education to the labour market 
* The digital divide
* Urban physical and virtual mobility
* E-democracy.

The parallelsession on the third mentioned topic above will be organised by Public Counter 2000 (OL2000).
  
To give visitors a taste of the conference, a forum section is available on our website. You are invited to add your opinion, comments or questions to it.

We are able to arrange a room for you in a comfortable hotel close to the conference building. However, we need to receive your request for a reservation before 15 August, otherwise we will not be able to guarantee you a room in one of the hotels we have selected.
