Beste Rode Lopers,

Hier nog een herinneringsmail voor de mensen die zich nog niet hebben
aangemeld voor de externe competitie van komend seizoen en wel daar aan
deel willen nemen. Als je je al aangemeld hebt of niet mee wilt doen negeer
deze mail dan vooral. Als je je NIET aanmeld gaan wij er vanuit dat je NIET
meedoet met de externe competitie komend seizoen en zal je dus ook NIET in
een team geplaatst worden.

Beste Rode Lopers,

Het einde van dit schaakseizoen is in zicht en dat betekent dat er na de
zomer weer een nieuw seizoen van start gaat. Elk jaar weer doet het bestuur
een inventarisatie bij de leden over hun deelname aan de externe
competities. Hieronder staat in het kort wat dit precies inhoudt. Helemaal
onderaan de mail staat een link met het Google formulier waar je je keuze
kan invullen. Als je liever persoonlijk een mail wil sturen naar mij kan
dat natuurlijk ook. Ik heb het liefst uiterlijk 30 mei alle antwoorden
binnen zodat we op tijd de teams kunnen opgeven.

Externe Competitie
Elk jaar aan het eind van de zomer begint er een nieuw schaakseizoen. Dit
bestaat uit twee competities: de SOS competitie en de KNSB competitie. In
deze competities speel je in een Rode Loper team van 6 of 8 spelers tegen
teams van andere clubs. De SOS competitie bestaat uit ongeveer 9 rondes
verspreid over het jaar en de wedstrijden worden doordeweeks gespeeld op de
clubavond van de thuisclub. De KNSB competitie bestaat ook uit ongeveer 9
rondes en de wedstrijden worden op zaterdagen om 1 uur gespeeld. Als Rode
Loper lid kan je meedoen aan beide competities, zolang je niet aan
diezelfde competitie meedoet voor een andere club. De teams worden
ingedeeld op basis van interne rating. Voor meer informatie zie:

Drie opties
Er zijn zowel voor de SOS als de KNSB competitie drie opties. De eerste is
dat je geen externe wedstrijden wilt spelen. De tweede is dat je als
basisspeler in een team wilt zitten. Hiervoor wordt niet van je verwacht
dat je er elke ronde bij bent. Het is alleen wel belangrijk dat je in ieder
geval twee rondes voor het team speelt. De derde optie is invaller zijn.
Dit houdt in dat als er een speler van een team niet kan spelen, dat een
teamcaptain jou dan kan vragen of je voor hen zou willen invallen. Hier
hangt geen enkele verplichting aan en is er puur zodat teamcaptains weten
wie ze het best kunnen contacteren voor invallers. Let wel: aanmelding als
basisspeler ten opzichte van invaller heeft als meerwaarde voor de club dat
we daarmee ons gewenste aantal teams vol kunnen krijgen. Een enkele
wedstrijd missen hoeft daarvoor dus geen belemmering te zijn.

Teamcaptain
In elk team is een van de spelers de teamcaptain. De teamcaptain is degene
die de opstelling van het team maakt, invallers regelt als het nodig is en
een teamgevoel creëert. En het is natuurlijk handig als een teamcaptain
aanwezig is bij het grootste gedeelte van de wedstrijden.

The end of this chess season is in sight and that means that a new season
will start after the summer. Every year the board makes an inventory of the
members about their participation in the external competitions. Below is a
brief summary of what this exactly means. At the very bottom of the email
there is a link with the Google form where you can fill in your choices. If
you would rather send me an email personally, that is also possible. I
would prefer to receive all the answers no later than Wednesday afternoon,
May 15, so that we can register the teams on time.

External Competition
Every year at the end of summer a new chess season starts. This consists of
two competitions: the SOS competition and the KNSB competition. In these
competitions you play in a Rode Loper team of 6 or 8 players against teams
from other clubs. The SOS competition consists of approximately 9 rounds
spread over the year and the matches are played on weekdays on the club
evening of the home club. The KNSB competition also consists of
approximately 9 rounds and the matches are played on Saturdays at 1 p.m. As
a Rode Loper member you can participate in both competitions, as long as
you do not participate in the same competition for another club. The teams

Three options
There are three options for both the SOS and the KNSB competition. The
first is that you don't want to play any external matches. The second is
that you want to be on a team as a starting player. For this you are not
expected to be there every round. It is just important that you play at
least two rounds for the team. The third option is to be a substitute. This
means that if a player from a team cannot play, a team captain can ask you
if you would like to fill in for them. There are no obligations whatsoever
and is purely so that team captains know who to contact for substitutes.
Please note: registering as a starting player instead of a substitute has
the added value for the club that it allows us to fill the desired number
of teams. So missing a single match should not discourage from becoming a
starting player.

Team captain
In each team, one of the players is the team captain. The team captain is
the one who sets up the team, arranges substitutes if necessary and creates
a team feeling. And of course it is useful if a team captain is present at
most of the matches.
