De marechausse blijft in alle varianten bestaan op het huidige niveau.</span><o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>2. Nadruk op luchtmacht - ' vliegende interventie'. NL blijft aanwezig op het internationale toneel, kan andere operaties ondersteunen.</span><o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>3. Nadruk op marine - 'maritieme handelsmacht. Hier is de target vooral bescherming van handelsroutes; deze variant beoogt vooral handhaving of verbetering van de binnenlandse en Westeuropese welvaart.</span><o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>4. Nadruk op landleger - 'robuuste stabiliseringsmacht'. Dit heeft de voorkeur van Clingendael zelf, maar qua doelstelling is ze het minst thematisch. Gaat meer om kaasschaaf bij structureel handhaven van huidige situatie.</span><o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>5. Nadruk op interventie - 'ondersteunende vredesmacht'. De PvdA-variant, zullen we maar zeggen. Generaals onder UNO-bevel, inkrimpen van belangrijke odnerdelen.</span><o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Ik vind de voorkeur van Clingendael weinig creatief. Mijn idee nog steeds: versterk luchtmacht en marine (2 en 3), en bezuinig het meest op de personeel-slurper, het landleger. Strategisch is dat totaal overbodig: een landaanval plus defensie kost, met de huidige techniek, altijd enorm veel doden onder eigen burgers. En een staat als vijand hebben we niet en zullen we wschl ook nooit meer krijgen.
