[Kon ik vandaag maar evenveel enthousiasme voor wetenschap en techniek 
opbrengen als deze prachtvrouw en volgende president van México:
Dra. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. Dat zou mijn mentale gezondheid ten goede 
komen dan de verziekte techno-atmosfeer in hollandland. Ik sluit niet 
uit dat ze me het Morenakamp in trekt. Ik stel u voor: "La esperanza de 
México", Sheinbaum Pardo.

PS: Wist u dat de rubberen muismat bedacht is door een Mexicaan? Iedere 
computergebruiker die zijn handpalm op een muismat laat rusten staat in 
wezen "in verbinding met México" ook al is deze made in Japan of 
China... Alle computerprogrammeurs en gebruikers zijn de frontsoldaten 
van México, ook al zijn ze zich daarvan niet bewust. De computermuis is 
een uitvinding uit het jaar 1968. (U raadt de hermeneutische betekenis 
al...)  Mocht u op het idee komen geen muismat of muis meer te gebruiken 
dan zal dat niet meer zo ergonomisch werken zijn en zal uw hermeneutisch 
draagvlak ook afnemen... Zoals sommige staatslieden hun gelofte afleggen 
met de hand op de bijbel zo legt de computerprogrammeur elke dag zijn 
hand op de muismat en zweert trouw aan ... de ergonomie anno '68! Daarom 
is Mexíco ook een functionele staat geworden, en relatief ongevoelig 
voor internationale geopolitiek.../RO]

Who Was Armando Fernandez?

A few sources also mention Armando Fernandez as deserving credit for the 
mouse pad. He worked for Xerox, and in 1979, created a rubber pad that 
wouldn’t slide off a desk.

Most of the computer mice produced by Xerox also included the “special 
pads” created by Fernandez. The only problem was Xerox was notorious for 
producing super expensive technology. In fact, their mouse ran for about 
$300 at the time, which is over $1,000 today!

It is this lack of accessibility and affordability that likely doomed 
Fernandez to the backseat when it comes to the invention of mouse pads. 
Still, it’s worth noting that he has a place in its history.
