Facebook’s “fake news” measures: A move toward censorship

"Facebook’s “third party” reportedly consists of five news organizations 
acting as fact-checkers. These are: ABC News, Politifact, FactCheck, 
Snopes and the Associated Press. According to Facebook, these 
organizations are also signatories of The Poynter Institute’s 
International Fact Checking Code of Principles, which are: 1) “a 
commitment to nonpartisanship and fairness”; 2) “a commitment to 
transparency of sources”; 3) “a commitment to transparency of funding 
and organization”; 4) “a commitment to transparency of methodology”; and 
5) “a commitment to open and honest corrections”.

Poynter, a self described “global leader in journalism,” receives 
funding from, amongst others, Google, the Bill and Melinda Gates 
Foundation and most notably the National Endowment for Democracy, a 
front for the US Department of State that has intervened in elections 
all over the world in the interest of US imperialism."
