Met de intrede van twitterbots, Cambridge Analytica en robot-politici is
Virilio's concept van de 'automatische democratie' waarbij de reflex
heerst boven de collectieve reflectie nogal actueel...

"Behind the libertarian propaganda for a direct
democracy, capable of renovating party-based representative
democracy, the ideology of an automatic democracy is being put
in place, in which the absence of deliberation would be
compensated by a 'social automatism' similar to that found
in opinion polls or the measurement of TV audience rat-
ings.
A reflex democracy, without collective reflexion, in
which conditioning would have greater importance than
'electoral campaigning' and in which the 'demonstrative'
character of the party programmes would give way to the
strictly 'monstrative' and spectacular character of a drilling
