Zit zojuist naar Balkenende te luisteren bij RTL, waar hem gevraagd
wordt waarop het CDA gaat bezuinigen.

Hij antwoordt weer in het bekende riedeltje: We gaan eerst alles op een
rijtje zetten ... dat betekent dat we de komende jaren behoorlijk moeten
bezuinigen.
Kortom, na bijna 10 jaar regeren weet hij nog steeds niet waarop hij wil
bezuinigen. En verschuilt zich achter nog te vormen commissies, etc. etc.

May 2010 (IPS) - It was sixty years ago this May that French foreign
minister Robert Schumann made his appeal for a United Europe that would
prevent the wars and traumas that had haunted European history. It would
be hard to imagine a less auspicious time for celebration, writes
Roberto Savio, founder and president emeritus of the Inter Press Service
(IPS) news agency.

In this article, Savio writes that faced with the crisis of Greece, for
months Europe's leaders were unable to act forcefully and together as
the price of a rescue rose higher and higher. For reasons tied to their
own survival, European politicians have still not told the truth to
their electorate that all but the northern countries are incapable of
maintaining the way of life they have provided their citizens thus far.

The collapse of the European political class is seen in their ineptness
in the face of the gigantic financial crisis of 2007, which swallowed up
more than two billion euros. Meanwhile, China will surpass Japan next
year as the world's second largest economic power. And in ten years,
Brazil, Indonesia, India, and South Africa will have overtaken Belgium,
Holland, and other European countries with the exception of Germany,
France, and the UK.
