Considers Adopting "Net Neutrality"
"

Earlier this month, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski released a draft
proposal on "net neutrality," a strategy that aims to address concerns about
the way large Internet service providers manage their networks. Today, the
FCC will hold a meeting to consider adopting Genachowski's plan.

The FCC commissioners will meet in Washington today to consider adopting
basic rules to govern the Internet. The three Democratic appointed
regulators hope the "network neutrality" proposal creates enforceable
guidelines designed to "protect the openness that is the Internet's
hallmark." Though, Democrat and Republican opponents claim the plan amounts
to unnecessary government takeover of the Internet.

The FCC's decision will affect major corporate business plans as leading
telecommunication firms and Internet companies, such as Google, continue
to grow business efforts in the Internet video industry.
