Het zou natuurlijk ook zo maar kunnen dat op veel plaatsen de markt van
lokale leveranciers zodanig ontwricht is (zie ook mail Ernst Debets
4oct09), dat veel meer mensen internet als alternatief gebruiken.

En dan is er van een economische opleving geen sprake, wel van kaalslag!

Het laatste lijkt me meer in overeenstemming met de ontwrichting in de
huizenmarkt, de zeer hoge werkeloosheid en enorme winsten in de financiele
markten.

Internet and search engine giant Google Inc. beat third-quarter
expectations with a 27 percent increase in net income to $1.64 billion, or
$5.13 cents a share.

Excluding special items, earnings for the quarter were $5.89 a share.
Revenue was up nearly 1 percent to $4.38 billion.

Analysts had expected the Mountain View search giant (Nasdaq: GOOG) to
post earnings excluding items of $5.42 a share, and $4.24 billion in net
revenue.

The company said the number of times users clicked on its online
advertisements and generated revenue grew year-to-year by 14 percent.

Chief executive officer Eric Schmidt said in a statement that, "While
there is a lot of uncertainty about the pace of economic recovery, we
believe the worst of the recession is behind us and now feel confident
about investing heavily in our future."
