New edition of ‘Willingly and Knowingly’ available

On the occasion of the conference ‘Towards Knowledge Democracy’, RMNO
published a second edition of its report ‘Willingly and Knowingly’. The
book examines four cases of complex policy-making, in which the creation
and use of knowledge was profoundly problematic. The report caused
considerable commotion in the scientific and political world. Almost ten
years after the first edition, the analysis in the book is still relevant.
The work contains many of the starting points for the debate on the
tensions between knowledge, policy and the media. ‘Willingly and
Knowingly’ can also play a role in seeking possible paths towards a
knowledge democracy, as have other more recent RMNO publications, such as
Building Bridges and Knowledge Co-creation – Interaction between Science
and Practice.

Willingly and Knowingly (2nd edition) will be available during the
conference Towards Knowledge Democracy (25-27 August, Leiden). It is also
possible to order the book now, please send an email request to
bureau at rmno.nl. The book is available in an English and a Dutch language
version (Willens en Wetens). This publication is free of charge
