Dit onderwerp hield mij ook al bezig ;)

De paper van Professor Emmanuel Saez geeft een NOG duidelijkere tabel dan
op het adres van het artikel in de Huffington Post wordt gegeven.
De grafiek op blz. 7 van:
- UPDATED Summary for the broader public "Striking it Richer: The
Evolution of Top Incomes in the United States", updated August 2009

geeft een duidelijk inzicht v.w.b. het aandeel van de top-1% inkomens.

Die zijn van het einde Carter/begin Reagan van 10% tot 25% van het totale
inkomen toegenomen.
De 4% daaronder én de 5% dááronder zijn redelijk gelijkmatig toegenomen.

Dit kan alléén maar als de 90% van de inkomens daarónder zeer fors zijn
afgenomen!

geeft inzicht hoe dit is gekomen.

Zie b.v. de tabel: Short-term revenue effects of major tax bills enacted
under Reagan (as percentage of GDP)
Hier wordt aangegeven welke effecten de majeure wetgeving van Reagan had
(in 'aantal' jaren na invoering).
Het is echter zeer onduidelijk welk effect de totaal-regel beoogt, immers
verschillende 'kalenderjaren' (na invoering) worden hier bij elkaar
opgeteld.

Hoe de statistiek van het Cato Instituut hierover in elkaar zit wordt
getoont in het deel: 'According to a 1996 study[29] from the libertarian
think tank Cato Institute'

Het is eerder gezegd 'als je wilt liegen, moet je er een statistiek van
maken' ;)

PS. De grafiek maakt ook duidelijk dat de Reagan-jaren het hele tijdperk
na de 2e wereld-oorlog onderuit halen.
Ik vind die periode véél democratischer ;)
