Dit naar aanleiding van onderstaande link van Marc en hoe de California belastingbetaler de Onroerend Goed Belasting al in 1978 opgelost heeft:

De basis van Prop. 13 was dat property tax (onroerend goed belasting) nooit meer dan 1% van de verkoopwaarde van het huis kon zijn.
Dus bij verkoop gaat de nieuwe eigenaar een hogere property tax betalen. Er zijn geen tussentijdse verhogingen!!
Voor beeld:
Een huis gekocht in 1993 voor 100.000 betaald 1000 dollar Property tax.
Dit huis zou nu (zeg maar) 250.000 waard zijn en bij verkoop zou de nieuwe eigenaar 2.500,= property tax moeten betalen..
Een kind kan de was doen. Overdrachts belasting bestaat uiteraard niet!

BTW Hypotheek rente is hier aftrekbaar en als je geld uit je huis "haalt" mag je de nieuwe lening gewoon weer opbrengen als aftrekbare rente post. Het extra geld stimuleert de eccenomie, verder is het zo dat ne pas wat rente je mag aftrekken er altijd EERST meer rente betaald wordt!

Prior to Proposition 13, property taxes were out of control.  People were losing their homes because they could not pay their property taxes, yet government did nothing to help them.

!!!! In the finest tradition of the Boston Tea Party, California taxpayers stood up and said "No more!" to excessive taxes.!!!!!

The Proposition 13 Revolution swept the country and made headlines around the world. It began a change in thinking about the tax burden property owners had to bear. Proposition 13 also started a revolution in the people turning to the initiative process to gain greater control over their lives.
