Beestenboel in Nederlandse douane keuringskantoren

Een vandaag gepubliceerd raport van het veterinair comitee schetst het beeld van
de beestenboel die werd aangetroffen in Nederlandse douane keuringskantoren voor
vis en vlees.

Het smerigst is de bevinding gemeld in §5.9:    
"There were products with expired best before end date, open cartons in the
unloading area, and cartons of meat without health marks stored in the customs
warehouse (Eemshaven)."

Uit het overleg met de verantwoordelijke autoriteiten in hfst. 7, blijkt dat het
kennelijk wettelijk is toegestaan om producten na hun versheidsdatum alsnog te
herkeuren:
...there is national legislation (not received) which allows for the
presence of products with expired best before end dates in cold stores, as it
would be possible to give extension to this date after examination (finding
presented under §5.9).

De problemen komen over het hele land voor en zijn structureel. Procedures
worden niet toegepast omdat het personeel onvoldoende is opgeleid.
